Hi guys, I was on boards a few weeks ago looking for advice, did, ent think i,d be back on again so soon but here go,s,,, i ordered canyon roadlite 5.0 from canyon but had an email back saying 56cm frame size in white or black compact is out of stock till end of season [ bummer ].. Just want to know what is the focus cayo 105 09 model from wiggle like and is it worth 1200.00 euro or not.... I am nearly all set to go for the specialized allez sport for 825.00 or specialized allez elite approx 1100.00 but am wondering is the focus cayo a much better bike and a much better option to go for..... I am not going to be racing at all, just want a good bike for keeping fit mainly and to go for a 2 or 3 hour sunday morning spin every week and because i enjoy cycling..... Also this bike will be a treat for myself for turning 40 years old..... All help and advice very welcome guys.... Cheers........

Got mine about 2 weeks ago and can honestly say its a sweet bike, proably more than I'll ever need. Am used to an MTB so the rigidity and stiffness of ride is a bit weird but wouldn't give it back, now way!

Think the front 105 deraileur on the triple might be a bit agricultural but I think they have changed this since my bike as it states that the front mech on the triple is now Ultegra?.....may have to talk to them about this!

Again love the bike and hopefully it will see me through a few sportive's this year.

:p:DThanks for your reply tomc, basically do you think i would be better off paying the extra 360 to 395 euro for the focus cayo over the 825.00 for the specialized allez sport or not thats all..... Cheers:eek:

Hello, From the advise of other cyclists and here on boards I'm going to get one of these bikes from wiggle. I'm based in Galway and would love to see a bike beforehand, Just wondering if anyone has on in the 'wesht' for a quick look. I'd drive as far as Athlone,Limerick.
    Thanks (Send me a PM)

Got mine last friday. Very nice bike. Unfortunately nor seatpost or handlebars are carbon. But it can be fixed. Color is great. Ride feeling is nice too. Seems more softer than on the alu frame when you go through bumps on the road.
    Well worth buying.

I would pay more for the carbon frame no question. Seatpost and handlebars don't really need to be carbon to be honest, I have both on various bikes but not sure it makes that much of a difference.

I had the 2008 Cayo and it was a very nice bike.

There is no discernable difference between 105 and Ultegra triple front derailleurs.

Got 2008 focus cayo expert last Dec dura ace 1380 euros last one left.Much better ride than my giant scr2.Even on bad surfaces the cayo is better that the giant. Some say the cayo is a harsh ride and very uncomfortable i strongly dis agree. My advice would be go for it you wont regret it,climbs brilliantly its also very quick like a ferrari compared to the giant aluminium scr.Cant say what the specialized is like but i would think it would be more like my giant bike perhaps even slower.:D:D

Bcun forgot to mention i got it for my 40 birthday if it suits me it should suit you.Anyway that's my opinion if you don't like it wiggle give you a 7 day trial if you don't like it send it back for a full refund.Really cant go wrong :D

The Cayo is a little bit harsh for carbon I think but it is also pretty stiff. Both stiffer and harsher than the carbon Trek it replaced I reckon. Basically as road bikes go it is quite racy. But it was still much more comfortable than any aluminium road bike I have ever tried. I have not tried the Allez Elite and Specialized do make a big deal over their Zertz comfort things and it does have carbon seatstays... I have two other Specializeds though as well as a Zertzed-up seatpost and I am skeptical :) Also the Allez is Tiagra and 105 is a fair step up. Bit of a guess but I reckon besides the higher spec the Focus would also probably be lighter and more comfortable. It is a very nice bike.

Thanks for all the posts lads, the Focus Cayo appears to be the King despite the few minor 'hicups' that have ben posted. Its the best, hate to say it cos its a yankee term, "bang for your buck' bike available in Ireland right now. I'm going to view this bike tomorrow (from a fellow Boards.ie member) before buying from wiggle. God bless Boards.ie

Do it! Got mine today and I love it already. Delivery was super quick to Dublin too - ordered on a Tuesday and delivered on a Friday!

The beast arrived today. It was all pre-assembled as stated by wiggle (but you never know what to expect), very well packed, and handled.

Just open the box, snip a few cable ties and screw on the handlebars. Had it out for a lap of Salthill and its a rocket to go alright..

There was a aluminum cylinder in the bag, I asked Nigel cycles what it was and he said it was a 'shim' for a narrower diameter saddle, if you wanted to add it at a later stage. Anyone use this? Will post fota tomorrow.

Now to get a descent set of pedals (Shimano SPD's) I think and cleats.

Hope the weather's good in Galway for the next few days.:D
