    HI,

Looking for a caller bird (magpie) within 5-10 miles of Galway City.

Not trying to be difficult folks but could this be seen as trading wild animals?

I'd be cautious about it and look a little into it. I am not certain of the legislation on it so could be wrong but that's my gut feeling on it

Not selling so I don't see it as an issue?

Trading doesn't just mean selling Terrier, and the problem would be that boards.ie would be cited as facilitating if it's not legal (not saying it is, I don't know the Wildlife Acts well enough).

Had this thread been posted in the Shooting For Sale/Wanted forum, it would have earned the OP an infraction at the very least, as, to quote the Charter there:
...the sale or trade of wildlife remains prohibited, as does the sale or trade of animals for use as bait or decoys.
This section was inserted following consultation with NPWS officials, who stated:
Dealing in wildlife requires a wildlife dealers licence. One of the parties must possess a dealers licence; taxidermists, game dealers and anybody breeding and selling birds or mammals must have a licence. Our advice is to prohibit the trade of wild animals.
So, unless the OP has a wildlife dealers licence or intends to only enter into an arrangement with someone else in possession of one, thread closed.
