Curious Windows issue

I've replaced the P8400 in an Acer 8930G with a T9600 (an ES). Under Vista Home Premium- Device Manager continues to report a P8400 - despite refreshes etc, but 'About this Computer' correctly identifies the T9600. Its a curiosity more than anything, but does anyone know why this is happening?
