My wife is taking her first theory test later today. She did have provisional before in the UK. So when we apply for the provisional licence is it worth mentioning this and would it have any bearing on insurance costs?

As far as I'm aware driving in another country is treated as a clean slate.

It won't count for anything when applying for your Irish provisional license.

    No idea about insurance.

Would you not be able to get some sort of recognition of your no-claims?

Either way, I don't see how a just a provisional from another country could be considered any use to the insurance company, as I presume they don't ask how long you've held a provisional for?

    It won't make any difference.

    Learner Permit (since 2007).

If she had insurance in her own name in the UK then she should be able to transfer her bonus, AFAIK her having held a UK provisional means nothing here.
