Was meaning to ask for a while as a matter of interest. Do instructors ever think that they might get a lunatic or has anyone ever gotten a lunatic student??? (Obviously not on this scale but you get the idea) Just thought about it because in a car without dual controls your pretty helpless in that kind of situation.

I had two that spring to mind, the first was an elderly woman who obviously never drove more than a mile to and from the shops. During the test she tried to go around a roundabout the wrong way twice, she ended up with 50 Grade 2 faults & 10 Grade 3's.
Another Spanish lady had 25 grade 2's & 12 grade 3's, & that was only after the test was curtailed for safety reasons without any of the manoeuvres being conducted.
The sad thing is, they both got into their cars and drove home alone!

Last year my test was canceled due to the tester being sick - found out from my instructor he was out with a neck injury after someone had hit the back of another car during the test.

No way is that real- how come he was allowed bring a friend with him??
Although two days before my test I was sat with my instructor and we watched for a full 10 mins (mainly coz some dunce dropped his car right in front of my parked car, totally blocking me) as an examiner stood in total disbelief watching his client desperatly trying to attach his insurance, tax, nct discs onto his car window with dunnes stores stickers and then proceed to get his "L" plates out of the boot of his car and try and stick them on with same dunnes stores stickers. Failing miserably at sticking any of them on.
On a lighter note I had the same examiner for my test and after passing me, we had a good laugh about that fella- he told me he let it go on for 15 mins before he had to bring him in and fail him. He was a sound but really evil examiner- I liked him though haha:p
