I'm looking to scrap my car whilst in the UK but it has an Irish reg. The guys I'm gonna scrap it with issue a cert of distruction and inform the dvla (Uk tax guys which is pretty useless to me I think)
this is who I'm going with http://www.scrapcar.co.uk/

Do I need to inform anyone in Ireland? do you think the cert of distruction will be enough?

    Thanks :D

I would imagine it would be enough. Simply inform your local licensing authority and forward the certificate onto them. At the end of the day the car will be scrapped and it won't be your worry anymore (well that's the theory anyway). ;)

ah yes but will they believe me? So get my distruction cert and bring it into the cartax office in Ireland and that should be ok.

    Good stuff, thanks Tea Spoon!

ironically I got done for not having tax (even though it was parked on private property- different laws in UK), paid the tax and I haven't moved it since! now it won't work so I have to have it crushed anyway!
The guys coming to take it want the registration book and keys, is that normal and ok?

Yes it's standard procedure. In fact if they take the registration book then it sounds like they will do the paperwork for you. Best to double check with them though.
