searching files on vista ...

    why did they remove the handy windows search where you could search for files containing .....

    how can i do this in vista ?

    Top right hand corner of my computer etc. Search from there. Or search from the windows button at the bottom.
    You can search files or programs from here.

    From the top right box you can go to advanced search which you can look for files containing.

    The seach box will automatically search file contents in indexed locations - you can override this by going into Folder Options but you don't have the same flexibility as you did in previous versions. I gave up on the Vista search altogether, I'm not a fan of the whole indexing thing. I now use a third party app called Search and Replace.
