Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend some really good complicated music that they've heard. Stuff that has irregular and complicated time signatures, song structures and musicianship. Any genre welcome. I'll get the ball rolling with

Sikth, album - The Trees are Dead & Dried Out Wait For Something Wild

    Rush, song - YYZ

A few albums that come to mind...

Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
    Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mounting Flame

...don't know if it's what you're looking for but you might like them.

Try these two out. There is a piano piece by Bartok and a piece by John Coltrane

I think Protest the Hero are incredible. Fortress and Kezia are a permanent fixture on my ipod. Not a big fan of Gojira, I tried giving them a listen but they just didn't do anything for me.

Classical is always great, Vivaldi's Four Seasons is incredible also an ipod staple.

You won't hear those classical musicians on Grafton St playing Schoenberg's
    2nd String quartet.

I'd consider the majority of "Steely Dan's" music to be fairly complicated.

    Autechre...most complicated song ever!!

This song does have musical patterns if you listen closely, but it changes so many times its hard to find them!

    Planet X.

Derek Sherinian and Virgil Donati. So many time changes, so much technical ability.

Out of the stuff I've heard recently, I reckon This Town Needs Guns have really cool time signatures in their music.
