just sell it and buy a different A3, or something better.

Never build what you can buy. car will be saleproof after a respray.

    2500 - 3000 for a full respray.

The car has to be propperly prepped 1st and that is alot of work and time to do.

Just re read the post and cant believe this.

You are wanting to respray a 2008 Audi??

    Are you for real??

Also say goodbye to your manufacturer warrenty too if something goes wrong with the car.

Dont get me wrong i love car, just wouldn't mind a bit more of a lively colour!

    WHAT:eek:

Seriously, whatever you do, do not respray a one year old car, are you absolutelly mad.

Trade and get a different colour and hope you dont loose as much as a full respray costs. Mad.

Why did you buy the car in the first place if you dont like the colour????
Sell it and buy another a3 in a colour you like

Have to disagree there paddy, couldnt realistically see a respray on a hatch cost 2.5-3k

well was only enquiring folks, i'm hardly gonna spend that much money if thats what it is now! I like the colour of my car, was just wondering what it would cost to flash it up, if its around that price i wont even contemplate of it again to be honest!

I have a 01 Corolla hatch and when I was pricing around the average was 2,500, and they were reputable sprayers. I have seen some botch jobs from cheap places so I would be careful about cheap and cheerful on this one as it would cost more in the long run. Now with the recession it might be alot cheaper but somehow I doubt it at the moment.

you'd have to be looking at a windows out, full strip down, engine out job do do it right, even then, it won't be right.

i got a quote last week for a e34 520 beemer of 1,500 for a full respray,so 2,500 is madness are they paintin it in gold or somethin

If its an 08 just buy another car! I'm lookin for a nice black or metal gun Grey civic coupe and its looking like a spray job.

I could live with a 1500 job. Think one of my mates got her car sprayed pink for 1200 not sure though.

You would have to be clinically insane to comtemplate a full respray on a one year old, either trade it in or live with the colour.

You get what you pay for. any full respray for 1500 won't be any good.

    +1

There's no way some one could respray a full car (a different colour) properly for €1500, that would nearly be the labour for just stripping the car. I know a lad who got a full respray for under 1k. Was it any good? No.

How about getting a vinyl wrap on the car? That was you could revert to silver when you are selling it on.

Not to quote u 'paddy' but we havnt actually sprayed any cars publically yet, at all. My vtec prelude and skyline have both been resprayed by me and theyre mint condition. I would recommend anyone to respray a car, and any of these negative posts are just naive people with no real understanding of the industry. In relation to the original post, it is definately a good idea to spray a new car if you want, i understand that irish cars have lost value due to the influx in english reg cars, and to respray a car you bought for 30k and is now worth (officially) 23k is reasonable to enjoy a car your have to keep to not make a immediate loss of per say 6k. Once the company you choose have an oven, and a good paint supplier, only a fool couldnt spray it perfectly. And the labour for the stripping comment costing 1500 alone, jeez. Do it mate, pick your own flash colour thats custom ordered and rare, it may bump up the price from the 23k scenario above. you wont reget it i assure you.

    Bon appetite, j

would disagree with the above, even though I'm in the motor trade.

(about the principle of it, rather than the posters ability to paint!)

Dont mean to drag up an old thread, found this one on the good owl google search!!

Iv got a 05 shape audi a4, needs complete respray, in an oven with best grade paint available, Im keeping the car and I dont want a botch job done,Based in Longford and willing to travel to the right sprayer.

Scratches all over, all doors, bonnet, roof, wings have tiny spots starting to appear,, gone are the good old days of the audi 80s & 90s that where built in aluminium!

I am actually looking for a respray too. The cheapest respray possible for a 99 clio (currently a horrible green) - want black. Its an old car. Cheap is fine.
