Registration cert & NCT

Hey, just wondering if someone can help me. I've booked my grandparents car in for the NCT next week. My granny searched the house a few weeks back to find the registration cert but can't find it anywhere. I got the form signed in the guards and sent it off three weeks ago to get a replacement but it hasn't come yet. I rang them today and they said it should be out this week but they can't guarantee it.
Can anyone tell me if they'll let the car do the NCT without the registration cert?

I don't think I had to show anything - just paid up.

I think it's normally only needed if there is a dispute over something like the amount of seatbelts, ie your car has 4 seatbelts but the reg cert says there's 5 and you need to show it should they dispute it.

Perfect thanks! It's just that it says it on the letter so thought they might ask for it when you check the car in.

What's the procedure if your car fails the NCT? Do you have a certain amount of time to bring it back or do you need to rebook the whole test again?

you have 30 days to rebook and carry out the test and if it requires the use of any of the equipment thens its 27.50, but leave it longer than 30 days and you have to pay full price again.

You have 30 days from the date of the first test to retest your car if it fails. There are 2 types of fail result. The first is where the car fails and it needs equipment to be retested, brakes lights suspension etc. The car will have to be booked in again and a retest fee of 28 is charged. The second fail is a visual, a new tyre, brake light bulb or anything which can be inspected without the use of equipment. This can be done at any time during the 30 days including the day of first test. If the car is not returned within the 30 days for retest then a new full test must be booked and another 50 paid out.

The Reg Cert is really only necessary for the cars first test in case of problems with the VIN/Chassis number. Re seat belts each test centre should have a full listing of the seat belt requirements for each car.

The VLC is a requirement for the test, but not often requested - I've never been asked for it and I've put 3 cars through the test in the past while. If they catch wind that you don't have it with you, they will cancel the test and reschedule. Happened a work colleague last week.

For more info. on the test see here OP --> http://www.ncts.ie/faq.html also on retesting --> http://www.ncts.ie/faq.html#14

So basically if I don't get it in the post this week just say nothing to them about not having it and it should be ok?
