If I had to start up a business to employ about 2-3 people, what grants funding are available? I know of the County Enterprise boards. Any other? have an idea at the moment just want to get information on funding. It is Environmentally friendly orientated.

In my experience trying to get grant aid can be a real paper chase with each agency referring you to another. My own guess also is that you may find the well dry as regards funds but I could well be wrong.

Depending on your location-Leader, Interreg, Fas, International Fund for Ireland, CEB (as you mentioned) Udaras na Gaeltachta but I wouldn't bet on any of them having funds...

Give Enterprise-Ireland a call, they could help you out with more information and if your plans within the next 3 years would fall under their domain or they will point you to other state-bodies. Either way, EI are a good start to make ground when looking for grants / info.

Its worth calling around, but to be honest the enterprise boards seem to have very little money nowadays and to keep themselves occupied have developed several new hoops to keep people jumping through until they very slowly make decisions.

Sounds a bit negative but at the moment unless your complete out of other options for capital i'd suggest applying for the grants but not spending too much time on them and certainly don't wait around for them to come through - focus on setting up the business and get sales / vender finance if you can.

One good option for you might be to avail of a back to work program for people who need help integrating into the work force, they will be paid by the state, this is the only employment assistance that i'm aware of.
