IGN recently ran an article about setting up a Jap PS account - and also linked play-asia where you can get Japanese PSN code cards. Haven't tried it myself, so buyer beware etc.

Seeing as Metal Gear Solid (amongst others) are available some may find it interesting reading. And, as a footnote, here's a list of PSOne "Classics":

Have an account on all 3 stores, the language barrier prevents me from downloading MGS1 and FFVII onto my hard drive.
Could be a while before they come to the European store...

Have a japanese account and have bought a few games on it. There are plenty of amazing games on there where the language barrier isn't an issue. Puzzle Bobble is what you would expect. Gunners Heaven is a superb gunstar heroes clone. Devil Dice is an underrated classic puzzle game. Einhander, R-type Delta and G-Darius are 3 of the greatest shooters ever created and are pretty much essential and Raystorm is pretty great as well.

Why are Ign recommending MGS1 if you don't understand japanese?
