What's it worth? How hard to sell?

A the risk of repeating myself but I'm really agonizing about this...

    27092008001.jpg

I've been going hot and cold as to what I think it's worth and I'm not sure if it's worth keeping and I'm not sure if it's worth selling so I need some help.

'98 2.8 (yes, petrol) Quattro Sport
Owned by me for 2 years
    130,000 miles with FSH.
    12 months NCT
    Climate control/ Electric cloth seats (not memory)/ OBC/ alarm/ 4x elec windows/ 2 keys.
Will sell with 18" BBS wheels (needs 1(!) tyre) + original 16s (18s are a major selling point, lets face it)
    Sensible tints
Generally straight and clean and turns heads when scrubbed up.
New rear disks/ Just serviced/ lots of other work done with receipts.
    TB not needed for 20k

    Bad stuff;

Tax just out (€330 a quarter required immediately if I keep the car)...
Needs Fuel level sender (put up with problem since I've had it- 250 on trip meter= get some petrol)
Few paint bubbles on wheel arches (UK car).
Yellow pass side lamp (not NCT fail but looks crap next to new driver side lamp) also been this way for 2 years.
Needs €600/ €700 on rear suspension (and new tyre as a consequence- techcnically 2 I suppose but the good one is only maybe 20% worn)
Minor oil leak in engine (rocker cover area- probably fixed by time of sale)
ABS light has come on for 2 or 3 seconds several times in last fortnight. Might be related to brake work or maybe worn front pads (disks have 20k on them)??
Fuel pump in tank getting a little hummy lately (filters changed maybe 10k ago).

I complained about an exhaust hum lately but the tyre centre are happy their repair is a good 'un and I would of course disclose all known probs to prospective buyers- I need to sell it as is or fix it and keep it.

I'm pretty stumped, lads. You don't need a lesson in economics to know it ain't worth much now and I don't know how tough it will be to sell. I'm sure that if it's worth any substantial figure, I'll sell it and get something else. This would be my preference, truth be told

You'd nearly need to give it away - sorry :(

I can't see anyone offering much more than a grand for it although the 1 years NCT is in its favour

That's a LOT of car for that kind of money. Is that a mini beside it by the way?

Put some money into it and enjoy it. It will be an impossible sell unless the polish mafia take an intrest:pac:

    PS - Nice alloys:D

I'd nearly try and get a couple of hundred quid for the alloys and try and sell the car with the original wheels - in the current market, your car is equally undesirable no matter what wheels are on it.

Keep it and sell the 18" wheels to generate some cash for some of the repairs. And save a chunk in running costs as well (cheaper tyres). I bet the car drives better on the original 16" wheels anyway :D

I'm also thinking about shifting this to generate the extra cash...

Since the tyre in question appears okay at a glance, I might just fix up the suspension and leave the tyre off...

Surprisingly, the ride only deteriorated only a little with the low profile tyres. I had an integra with 40 profile tyres once and it was hard as a hoor's heart. The wheels kinda make the car, IMO. I'll probably leave them on.

I just saw the headlight, and thought it might be a widebody kit. Nothing wrong with a mini though!

Anyway, don't mean to go off topic. I think your car is probably worth a lot more to you to drive, than to sell - though I'd love to be in the market to buy something like that.

I'm in a similar situation but the car in question is worth alot less regardless of whats gone wrong with it.

If that car was fully repaired, what would it be worth?

I'd imagine it's, in a sense, written off. It wouldn't be viable to repair it, as the cost of repair would exceed the value of the car.

After that then, what ever value you put on the car, you then have to get some one to buy it. Any enthusiast of some form would be your best bet, not everyone is going to go out looking to buy a 2.8 A6.
