How to speed Philips Iqon up

Hi all have Philips Iquon pc approx 5 years old,pentium 4, 2gb ram, hard drive is 40gb with 11gb unused. I can not seem to find what is taking up this space as I have an external hard drive which holds all photos and music. I have run spybot and defrag but pc is slow anybody got any ideas,much appreciated. Paul
