Question re Taxi/Bus undertaking in BusLane

Can taxis or buses (mostly taxis) legally undertake in a bus lane? I know they can if there is stopped traffic but I'm talking about when the traffic is moving at a normal pace.
I've often been driving along at or under the speed limit and a taxi will be driving behind me in the bus lane and will just driving past on the left as if it's their God giving right.

I... don't quite follow. Are taxis and buses allowed to use the designated taxis and buses lane, which is seperate from the regular lanes of traffic, to pass by the cars in the regular lanes of traffic?

I think a bus lane may legally be a separate road.

    Yes, thats what I'm asking.

Would it not kinda defeat the purpose of a bus lane if the buses/taxis had to go at the pace of all the other traffic so as not to pass them?

as long as there not breaking the speed limit and the traffic in the outside lane is gowing slower, it's perfectly fine to undertake... progress in your own lane..

I'd be interested a definitive answer to this one.

From what I can gather from reading that other thread it seems that it is legal for them to undertake or pass on the left (for the pedantic among us), as the buslane is considered to be a seperate carriageway. Its not legal if its an out of hours buslane though.
    Thanks for everyones input.

actually as the rules of the road-you are allowed to pass on the left if -the right lane are queing to turn right/the left lane are turning left/the traffic in the lane to the right are traveling slower then the left lane........
    it goes something like that...

If it isn't treated as a special lane, then would that mean that you should pull into the bus lane to let them overtake you using the normal lane (with neither vehicle crossing a solid white line)?

    No.

Traffic has to be moving "slowly" before you can pass on the left in the third scenario- . Here's the wording in the ROTR:
You may overtake on the left when: [...]
Traffic in both lanes is moving slowly and traffic in the left-hand lane is moving more quickly than the traffic in the right-hand lane

"Slowly" sounds pretty vague! But I think the normal rules of undertaking are not what's being argued, but rather if there are any specific provisions for it being a special lane.
