    Hey,
I just received an IRCSET scholarship to start my PhD at NUIG in September. I am from Canada and so I know very little about this funding. I am looking for more information about how the scholarship works and the finer details. Any info would be helpful! Also, are any of the student residences geared towards post grads/international students? And is it true that I could get a room anywhere in Galway and be within walking distance to NUIG? Are there any areas in Galway I should avoid letting in? Thanks for any and all replies.

hey, welcome! Im currently doing a PhD and my supervisor takes care of all the money stuff. as long as i get paid every month im happy enough. your best bet for info would be to go onto the NUIG website and search around there. email people as well, most are very good at getting back to you especially in your department.
google maps would be your friend in finding a house. any house would be walking distance but it could be 1 hour of walking! there isnt really any student accommodation for post grads. you can live in student acc but you'll be stuck with giggling crazy first years! living in a house fulla people is a good way to make friends.
