So yeah in the SU e-mail it said "Can all of htose students with lockers please see the attached word dicument for info on key return and deposit reclamation.".... but there was no attachment

Anyway, what's the story with these? I THINK I ticked mine for two years. Can't remember though. Do I still have to return it and then get it back next year? Or do I just keep it?

Just pop in to the superintendant (where you paid) some time this week. He'll confirm the box is ticked, and mark it again. You can use the locker all summer then and keep the key.

You will need to go back in September and pay the rental again.

ye.. Dunno what his opening hours are..

I think the usual date for returning the key/confirming locker retention is sometime in June, but better off doing it sooner rather than later. I remember the opening hours being quite short (maybe 9.30 - 4.30 with an hour and a half off at lunchtime), but they should be posted on the superintendent's door.

And that SU email was ridiculous, riddled with typos, lacking in attachments...

Yeah haha. And wasn't it said in another topic that they can only send out one email a week? So they can't even send out the attachments again until next week!

What would happen if say I snapped my key off in my locker? Lose deposit? Do you lose the deposit if you lose a key?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭mathew

If the lock needs to be replaced, you loose your deposit.
If you dont give back your key, they have to replace the lock, so you loose your deposit.

Id say the chances are youll lose it, but check with the superintendant anyway.

ye.. if you want to keep the locker next year pop in to him anyway. Im sure they can arrange a new lock for it so you can keep using it over the summer..

Looks like they sent that second email with the attachments after all.

Solely on the basis of this email, I have decided that my vote next year will go to the candidate holding the highest degree of literacy. The SU do nothing else for me, I would at least like correct spelling and grammar in the weekly emails.

This week's email seems oddly coherent, and devoid of spelling mistakes.

Yep, though the agreement with ISS to have access to the mailing list is based on them sending one per week (roughly). Back in the day more used to be sent, and I think people complained.

No to the obvious question that will come up, I doubt ISS will restrict access to the mailing list more.

Anyone when is a good time to catch the super. Went up twice today between 11 & 12.15 to return my key and he wasn't there.

I dropped in at about eleven, and he was on the phone. I waited outside for a while, not really knowing whether I should knock again or wait for him to come to the door, so I left to do a few things and came back about 20 mins later. Just knocked and went in and he was there.

Why didn't you ask him to keep it for next year too???

You then have the use of it over the summer, and next year, you just have to pop in to him to pay the rental next year.

Oh well I was dropping in to ask him to keep it for next year, but thanks for the advice!

I don't use it all that much, but on the days when you leave the house wrapped up for miserable weather, to arrive in Trinity in the sweltering heat, it's a handy spot to stick the coat(s).
