I deleted HOME...absolutely pointless...imo...therefore anything in HOME is pointless by default...

Yeah I've been playing Xi quite a bit, I've missed the last week I think because I've been busy but I like the way you can progress at your own pace so it's easy to catch up. My favourite part so far has been the text adventures, they were class.

It's like an adventure/puzzle game within home, it's meant to be like an unfinished/unreleased part of home before it was released (well thats the story anyway) accessed through a logo in the Home Square. You go around completing tasks (with new ones every week or so). Each bit reveals more about Home (Xi) and how it was created. Theres minigames, a text adventure and some puzzles involving the internet browser on your ps3.

Why delete it? It's only something like 88mb.

But if he left it on he wouldnt be able to make some bold sensationalist statement to impress the people of the interwebs.

dont you know it is cool to hate home?

    Yeh!

As this thread continues he will drop back in at some stage to tell us how he sold/gave away his PS3, cos Sony are the devil!

    Dmcg is wrong.

Xi is a Greek letter. And the [ | ] symbol is the Xi letter

How am I the only one thats wrong then? Im writing it how it looks most easily understood, it might be sony's wishes to spell it like that anyway

The porblem with home is that you spend mroe time downloading stuff than doing anything- I tried it again yesterday and got fed up- I went to the EA area which had to download then nothing worked downstairs so I went upstairs and had to download the upstairs. It really is pointless when there's so little content but so much loading/downloading time.

I just don't see what Home is good for or why I should use it, this might change but I remain very skeptical and have almost zero interest in it until there is some actual content.

There is dowloading times between areas to ensure the initial download of home is as small as possible. It would be impossible to stream these areas to the player over the air.

Personally my views of Home are:

    Pros:
    • Hasn't been tried before on a console
    • Watching trailers in the cinema is less hassle for me than on the internet.
    • Some of the Mini Games are good, Red Bull racing got released on the iPhone and you have to pay for that, its free on this.
    • The ideas behind areas for games is cool, really enjoyed the Far Cry 2 space
    • The avatars don't look like complete children
    • Game Launching will be cool with more support.
    • Xi is pretty interesting, that text adventure rocked
    Cons
    • Sparce at the moment
    • Cant restrict age limit (I don't want to play with 11 year olds calling me a farmer just because I'm from Ireland)
    • The queueing idea is awful
    • Downloading new areas is a pain, but you can do it in the background and mess around whereever you are at the moment
    • Paying for clothes and furiniture is something I don't see catching on
    • The stupid Running Man/ Robot dances every time you move around

Haven't tried the EA space, will do when I get home though. It would be cool if you could import your email address book into it, and it could find all home avatars matching, but seeing as it is very early il let that pass. Homes not something i'd use everyday, but to go on, check out some stuff and pass sometime, it isn't that bad an effort. Least Playstation are trying to create a community for it's players.

I love how this thread has morphed from "Why Xi is so good" to "Why Home is so bad":pac:. Haven't tried Xi yet, and don't intend to, to be honest. I honestly can't remember the last time I logged into Home. The Arcade is the only good thing about it, and even that gets grating very easily.

    On a side note,:

It also reminded me of this comic strip :D Here we have the most powerful gaming console of its generation and people are lauding some text adventure, lol
