So has anybody watched this show?
I saw the series 1-6 boxset on amazon going for a good price, im fairly tempted to take the plunge.
Just trying to get an idea of what people think of this show, heard its fairly gritty and hard hitting, btw im a big fan of The Wire and The Sopranos.

It is a great show but extremely violent and graphic in places.

I love it, it's a really good show. Not as heavy as The Wire, but very enjoyable nonetheless. It is extremely graphic at times. Some of the most fu*ked up things I've seen on terrestrial TV I saw on Oz - but it wouldn't be the same without it.

What kind of money is the box set going for?

Absolutely amazing show, last season was a bit of a let down but don't let that put you off.

Be prepared for lots of man love though;)

I wish I could watch it again for the first time, damn you!!

Absolutly fantastic show, one which I watched religiously when it was shown every Thursday on TG4. I'm looking at the box set myself but just don't have the money at the minute.

    Great show.

But also very violent and lots of male rape

Its £56 on amazon, I was in HMV earlier today and each season is 25e, so thats not a bad price

Quality from start to finish...no holds barred, no subject too gruesome, superbly scripted, acted and filmed with bad guys you end up loving and good guys you end up hating. Some of it is simply sick but you still keep watching.
Got the R1 boxsets from the US years back, for a lot more money. For 70 odd quid it's well worth it...

Oz is one of the best tv shows I've ever seen. It's well worth getting.

Yes, it's excellent but it's rough out. Lots of violence, gore and male nudity.

Possibly the greatest tv drama of all-time.
There's characters you love to hate and characters you hate to love.
And the best part is nobodies safe, so every episode you'll be on the edge of your seat hoping and praying that your favourite characters make it through to the next episode.

Superb show, one of the best ever. Be prepared for some very inventive violence though, including one scene that will ensure you'll never look at a spoon in the same way again...

this is old i remember looking @ this on channel 4 years ago 11 12 years ago maybe

    great all the same

That's funny - cos I was thinking about how much a boxset of Oz would cost.

A great TV series in which you could never guess what was going to happen next. For £56 - that's a steal. Defo.

When RTE talk about risque telly and give us something like Raw, the drama department should be shown Oz and told "THIS is risque telly".

The guys from Prison Break would never have survived a day in Oz without getting shanked or worse!

I always found the character that Christoper Meloni played on Oz very ironic when you consider the character in Law and Order:SVU that most people know him for.

I was certain each week Ryan O'Reily was gonna get it.

If you're a bit of a TV addict and have never watched OZ, you'll probably recognise at least 20 characters.

The Wire, Lost, Fringe, Dexter, Law and Order, probably others all have actors from OZ.

Then you see Schillinger in Rom-coms and comedies and it really messes with your mind!

He was my favourite character from Oz. He was so good at playing everyone off each other for his own personal gain.
The episode where Cyril was executed was one of the finest pieces of television I've ever seen. Poor Cyril:(

The episode where Cyril gets executed
was the most heart wrenching thing i've seen on a tv show My fav character was Adebisi, he was one bad fuddermucker. Its hard to say this about any programme but there wasn't a single bad episode. Forget about your 'Toughest Prison' docs, half an hour of this would make you stay on the straight and narrow for the rest of your life. Best tv show ever IMHO

its great!! Simon Adebisi is the bomb!!!! cool as fcuk!!!:D:D:D

Ryan O'Reilly was my favourite too, he was such a cunning, manipulative bar steward. But for sheer evil, no-one beat Nazi gang-rapist Robson. He was a joy to watch, in a what-will-that-sicko-do-next way.

What character would you least like to be? I'd go for Peter Schibetta -
the poor guy lost his mind after Adebisi and the Aryans had their wicked ways with him
    .

It's going on Sendit.com for £53 with free delivery to Ireland.

Awesome show btw, thinking of getting it myself.

Adebisi, Augustus Hill, and Ryan O'Reilly were easily the best characters on the show, although everybody had their "wtf, that guy is such a legend/absolute a55hole moments" that made them great characters. I've got the first series dvd, but intend to get them all and re-watch the entire series.
Also the theme song was pretty funky - gotta love it.

He seriously got his comeuppance in season 6 when he became Cutler's b*tch after getting his new gums. 'Bend over prag, we gonna spoon'. *Shudder*

I remember it well. I was watching that episode on C4 and it ended with his screams over the end credits. Then it cut to a continuity announcer who was so horrified by what she'd just seen that she forgot her lines and stood there wide-eyed and flustered. They don't make tv shows like that any more, sadly.
