(A video presentation by Umair Haque on “Constructive capitalism” given at a conference in Stockholm in February 2009. Getting away from the “bubble generation”. He talks about how businesses should “renew things instead of exploiting them”, supermarkets creating landbanks to minimise competition so that they can exploit food producers, the need to create real value for the customer rather than perceived value, and the need to remove conflict and lots of other issues.)

Haque works for www.havas.com in their media labs.

THanks probe great find, I think there is something substantial there. It seems things are changing fast especially in the area of marketing but also in the sustainability.

THanks probe great find, I think there is something substantial there. It seems things are changing fast especially in the area of marketing but also in the sustainability.

Haque's concepts are applicable not only to business/marketing - many of the issues in the above video are equally valid for politics, government, and related services - eg planning, health services, public transport etc....... No sector of any economy is an island.

Tip: Flash videos like this (and youtube stuff etc) can be saved to a PC hard drive using the v.3 Firefox browser with the https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006 addon. This allows the video to be played without an internet connection.
