I turned my bike upside down to put it in my car and water came out from the frame where the seat post goes in. I did get caught in some very heavy rain during the week. Has anybody heard of this? is it a problem.

Well its out now so no I wouldn't call it a problem!

What type of bike/frame is it?

That is normal, many frames have drainage holes in the BB area and chainstays to deal with the issue but some do not and are known to fill with water.

oooo, thanks for reminding me, just spent 4 hrs cycling in that weather

    ;)

had something similar a couple of years ago, lifted bike ino car after a 5 hr ride in attrouious weather, water gushed out of the bike, bike seems fine since, just remember to drive the water out of the chain, cassette, hubs and any pivot points such as the stearing headset

It can be a problem as it may mean water is getting into your bottom bracket or headset. Jut keep as eye out for grinding etc to see if anything is damaged. I recently replaced my headset cause water had got in...
