European Studies - What's it like?

Well, as the title says.Is anybody on boards doing it, or finished it? What is the russian department like in TCD? Also, what degree of fluency can I expect to get by starting a language from scratch? thanks!

I know a few people who do Russian (one of them as a part of ES, the others are TSM). They all love it and from what they say, the department is really sound. I think they'd all recommend you spend a summer/year in Russia at some point though!
