Hey...I was just wondering if anyone here knew a good place in ireland that offer extended warranty on ps3s...I had a launch day 60gb that just got YLOD a few weeks ago and I had to pay 160 euros to get a refurbed which died with the same problem an hour later.

So...I warned sony who(luckily) agreed to give me a brand new ps3 for free. Now...ill be recieving that sometime this week and I was just wondering to take an insurance or extended warranty if i could because I don't wanna pay another 160.

Thanks to anyone and everyone who responds in advance.

Currys/PC World offer extended warranties on playstations and would probably be delighted to get your moolah. You'll probably have to bring your PS3 to the store so they can test it first though.

    No idea on prices either.

Continous play is what its called but its not available in ireland which is complete bulls**t. I bought my ps3 in argos and bought the three year warranty with it,well worth it imo with that many ps3's dieing with YLOD and blu-ray drive failure

I was told in gamestop a few months ago that Sony was extending the warranty for 60Gb PS3's that were sold a year after launch:confused: because they don't sell them any more, so if they were right, people with the launch day 60Gb can get a 60Gb launch day replacement which is good for us cause its the best model ever:D(i think) and it has backward capability and every thing else the other models don't have.:D
And if you can't get a replacement:mad: just complain to Sony and tell them you cant get that model anymore and you paid ex amount for it.

ps: what does YLOD stand for?

    Thanks in Advance;)

Maybe this is gamestop policy but Sony won't extend the warranty. I know this because my 60gb failed recently with a disc reading error and when I rang Sony they wanted €160 to repair it.

Its not hard drive failure, i think its motherboard failure due to overheating, similar to the 360 RROD
