335d coupe

Ok, I was thinking about buying a fast petrol car M3/M5 (around 2003) or something like that and an everyday runaround. Im figuring now that I would not be happy driving the runaround for the majority of the week and the costs would possibly get out of hand running two cars.
Total change of mind now. Thinking about getting a 335d M sport coupe for everyday. I see that revenue are quoting 12k vrt on an 08 model and they are in the uk from 27k sterling + .
I fear that revenue would add thousands to that figure when they get hold of any extras added and there generally are a few nice bits on these cars that are not standard.
What is a realistic price to pay for a 2008 one of these and does anyone know if they are troublesome etc.

A UK car will have a 3 year BMW European warranty that's the first thing to point out.

Not sure if it's a diesel problem but the fuel injectors going is a common problem on the E92 - my 335i had it, it'll feel like a coil pack is gone and there'll be lots and lots of flat spots all over the place so it'll be a very noticable problem, warranty job.

The run flats are a serious pain in the arse and the M3 is a much more comfortable car to drive fast in and not have to worry about potholes as much.

I don't think there's anything else to worry about, with the torque of the 335d you're going to go through a fair amount of rubber on the rears but that's the price you pay. My car only has 6,000kms on it and I reckon the rears are halfway done now.

I think the 335d engine is about 600 quid for road tax on the new system.

Just want to say the tax on the 335d is 1050 (according to the BMW.ie site as it says the coupe produces 200g CO2 but for some reason the E90 (saloon) 335d only produces 173g CO2, maybe the engine in the coupe got a revision sometime which reduced the CO2 output, may want to check that) and for the 335i it is 2100 :)

Its just €600 tax for the coupe i was sure

I thought the tax bands finished at €2,000??

The coupe probably has Efficient Dynamics which you should just turn off but take the reduced prices in VRT and tax!

yep bmw.ie is very out of date on emissions. However you would want to triple check that your docs show the low CO2.

On the extras, find out what it has and used the configurator on bmw.ie to calculate the extra cost, take 25% off the total and then take the vrt % of what you end up with. Unless it is fully loaded it shouldn't be too bad on an msport. Leather, upgraded wheels, phone kit etc would only come to 1k extra or so.

Better off with the BMW.co.uk site for the likes of emissions.

The E92 335d is 177 g/km, making it €630/year motor tax. The 330d is 152 g/km for manual and 164 g/km for auto, making it €302 or €447/year motor tax.

2009 Emissions bases motor tax rates

    Not really Id say.
They seem to start around 27k sterling. Probably the one Id pick might be nearer 29K sterling. thats 32 - 33k Euro plus revenue 12k + 1 to 2k for extras on vrt so possibly over 45k

actually yeah your right, i was thinkin 27 euro and 10 for vrt, i hadn't allowed for exchange

makes me feel better as i thought i'd wasted a shed load of money there for a second:)

All I can say about the BMW is that Owen Reddy probably loves you.

He is struggling to say the least with the overflow of cars on his forecourt.

Very nice car. For me, it would have to be something other than Black. Too many black cars over the years.

    Each to their own.
