    Hi everyone
I hope someone can advise me. I have just accepted a place on a MSc starting in the autumn of 2009 and have already the yearly academic year planner. Lectures start on Monday the 5th of October but there is something called a "foundation week" starting Monday 28th September. For various reasons (work) it would cost me 3K to attend the whole week whereas I could attend 3 days of the week without losing income. I really want to make a good start, so I was wondering if it would be a good idea to speak to the department concerned. I am worried that I would miss information that would put me at a disadvantage for the year. Any information would be gratefully received:)

Thanks for replying to my post:) It's social science so am not sure the purpose of a week before lectures. I think I will email the department and maybe get an outline of what is involved.
