I'm no longer a Christian so you'll have to excuse my ignorance on the subject but I was wondering what the current Christian view is regarding the AntiChrist? Does the current RC leadership believe it literally (as in that the AntiChrist will come in the form of a real person) or is it a literary device alluding to something else?

I believe the anti-christ will be a person, I've stated my belife before, the greek word we transliated to anti doesn't mean opposite it means inplace of, so IMO the anti-christ will not be seen as evil by the masses but will infact be heralded as a "great man" or a "Champion of the people" on a global level, seen as a unifing force of sorts, and use this popularity to hide and enact his real agenda.

think NWO enslaving the masses stuff without all then tinfoil hats.

He'll be a person - possibly a political or religious leader.

First understand that Antichrist in the purest form will be a man , the beast from Revelation who is said to be a man will rule the world as it is.

He will be "perfect" in the eyes of man. We live in a fallen creation , the sinners of this world will flock and rush to the false deliverance this man will bring, a promise of "tolerance " "peace" and "freedom " which ultimately is the luciferian freedom to do what you want when you want all the time. Imagine such an idea, its devious in its appeal even to a Christian.

This promise once accepted will drift away and quickly move toward doing what he wants when he wants all the time. This evil world wants and deserves a leader who is evil through and through and is in fact Antichrist.

God has given us his word called the Bible, he has exalted this word. whenever a state or a man contradicts or lies about gods word then he has made God his enemy, he is of the spirit of Antichrist and is bound for hell lest he/she repent.

The book of Daniel speaks of and revelation speaks of a GREAT leader who will arise and he will speak great things and blasphemies. This man will have just the words to make the peoples of this world feel good about their sins. He will through a show of power, seem so right that ones conscience must be wrong. The world will say who could make war against this man? who could stand against such greatness?

In genesis 3 when the serpent said to eve 'you shall not surely die', he was saying 3 things... 3 lies ( frames of lies) man has always used to move into sin...that will be totally embodied in the beast, in what he says and more over what he does. these are

    1 God is a liar ( by implication )

2 the reasoning of man is above that of god almighty

3 sin is valid and ok.

when you encounter someone or a statesman or a state that says that one of the above is true, he/it is of their father the devil. (how may people / countries you know fit the bill?)

No one except the father ( God) knows when the terrible uprising of rebellion against god will reach the level of global Sodom and Gomorrah/ pre flood days of Noah, that jesus warns us will be the imminent signs of his return. Each generation have always thought it was them.

    Isaiah 30

9That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

10Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Beware wolves in sheep clothing, beware all this world has to "offer ", serve God, obey the Bible and preach to the lost.

    Amen
