Whitening Clinic Cork?

    Hi all,
I did use the search function and found one thread about this but it wasn't very helpful so I hope ye don't mind me asking a few questions.

I'm thinking about getting my teeth professionally whitened, i've been whitening my teeth at home for a while but am only getting so far.

I'm wondering does anyone have experience with the snip? I can't find any reviews on it.

Their prices seem to be very competitive, I first checked snip and they're charging €450, whilst snip are charging €250. Does it seem too good to be true?

    Any information appreciated.

    Thankies.

i am a dentist and i do not practise in Cork. I do not want to comment on the clinics you mentioned but i would like to share that i charge 1500 euro for whitening.

    just food for thought.

That's grand and all and I see what you're getting at. If I had 1500 i'd probably go to a dentist, but I don't.

    Anyone have any info?

I am not suggesting of course that everybody should pay 1500 euro. For example I also offer whitening for 500 euro ( as do many dentists) but the results are different.

What I am trying to say is that there is more to it than people think. As far as I know the snip place is a franchise for "Beyond", and the Snip clinic favours "Zoom". Both of these systems are backed by millions of $ in advertising worldwide. I almost succumbed to purchasing the "Zoom" system myself so I could offer it to patients. But after due dilligence I decided to avoid it.

Georgieporgy, are you doing Rod Kurthy's deep bleach technique? Just wondering what your percentage acceptance for cases is vs. zoom or take home. I am familiar with the technique, but I don't have a high acceptance rate for take home or zoom cases. Just wondering if it's worth offering this technique to patients.

Hi Big G, are you having a slow day as well? (ha ha)
Yes it is deep bleaching. About 4 cases per month for the full works so to speak. When I show before and after pics that usually convinces people of the value. I find you have to take time to explain things in detail to the patient so they are in a position to choose. Very often however an abbreviated method of the technique is sufficient to get good results. This suits younger pts (teenagers) .

I would say about 1 in 3 people who want whitening choose the 1500 version.

How often does the patient suffer from sensitive teeth after this treatment, or is it a common occurence?

Deep Bleaching is the one system that is virtually pain free. There is a special sealant applied to the teeth before treatment for those people where sensitivity is an issue. We actually seal all patient's teeth because you never know which one turns out to be a problem case.

About 10% of cases have problems with sensitivity and the sealant sorts them out.

Do dentists usually offer teeth whitening kits? This happened to two different people I know with two different dentists. The were offered these kits for 500euro and both paid. These exact same, seriously exactly the same kits are available elsewhere for 29.99:confused::confused::confused:
Now these dentists are high profile, one of them has a great reputation and both are very expensive and I'm just confused at the ridiculous difference in price.
