My experience of buying foreign movies, not German, is that English is one of the standard subtitles. You should be able to look at the full details on most sites that will tell you if they have English subtitles, you will need some basic German I would think. This has been my experience of French and Spanish movies. Your big problem will be that many of these sites do not ship to Ireland or the UK.

I was assuming this thread was about German films :p

Erm, just cause they're not released here doesn't mean you can't get them somewhere. It's more than just the United Kingdom that speaks English (Ireland being an afterthought as where part of the same dist. region) so if they were released in the Americas or near Australia or even Japan you might still get a DVD copy with English subs.

I've had a bit of a search and couldn't really find anything. Best bet would be amazon.de but you'll need some kind of knowledge of German (otherwise use a translating tool).

I'm assuming these are the films ? :

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103708/
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177242/

If they haven't been released for the English speaking market on DVD or VHS then you won't find them anywhere by searchng for the English titles. Again, if they've not been released for the English market then the likelyhood of Eng subs might not be good but ye never know, it varies. Don't waste your time asking in any shops though cause you won't get very far. The closest to a satisfying answer would be the IFC or perhaps the UK equivalent.
