I received the Panasonic TX-L37G10B 37 inch LCD TV at the weekend. It is a jaw dropping piece of kit. The picture quality is out of this planet, especially on HD. I have a question about the freesat HD ability of the TV. I have Sky+ SD. Can I easily set up the freesat in the Republic? What would I have to do, and could I do it myself? Many thanks.

If you have a Sky+ box, then the dish should have a 4 output Quad LNBF attached. 2 of those are attached to the Sky+ box. You need to bring a 3rd length of coax cable from the LNBF to the Panasonic. Look for CT/PH/WF100 grade cable and 2 f-connectors - see the sticky for a list of suppliers.

Thanks for the quick reply Apogee,

Do you think that PQ using the freesat should be better than Sky+ via Scart? Are there good channels on the freesat that I don't have on Sky. Many thanks

what HD material have you been watching? Blu ray?

freesat will give you bbchd and itv hd

yes picture quality should be better than scart. Ive a freesat HD box connected via HDMI to my tv and the SD picture quality is much better than the same SD pictures displayed via my digibox via scart.

Unless you have a very high quality TV, in which case for SD there is no difference between HDMI and RGB scart. Some flat screens have poor quality Analogue to Digital convertors.

VGA is very similar to SCART, but can do 1920 x 1200 or higher, just as sharp as HDMI with suitable HW. Sets with VGA and SCART in as well as HDMI should give perfect pictures on SCART RGB.

SCART composite is a lot inferior.

Just another quick question...I am thinking about getting SkyHD in. Seeing as the TV is freesat enabled (and I will set it up later this week), is there any point in paying Sky for a few extra HD channels?
