Steve Davis just said to Denis Taylor in commentary 'It would be interesting to know how long the tip stays on the cueball'. Denis replied 'that would be very interesting Steve'. :D

Is it just me or is the standard pretty poor in this final? They both seem to be missing shots that they should be potting, and it's been pretty disappointing for me. You expect the final to be about two players at the top of the game showing their skills, and whoever blinks suffers, but neither is performing as well as they can. A stat that just came up there is that the long pot success is 48% and 55%, that's p*ss poor.

Higgins kicking arse now. Just made a century, now leading 9 to 5

Had money on the lad at the start. Currently looks like a fine investment.

Higgins definately proving that wrong after that session :D turned it into a really good game after the first 2 frames :)

The standard of play was poor in the first session this afternoon, no doubt about it. Higgins looked wrecked tired and Murphy was just playing poorly.

John showed his class though in those final few frames. He went up several gears. An absolutely magnificent 128 total table clearance, followed by a further century in the final frame with a 90+ and a 50+ sandwiched in there as well.

Higgins leads 11-5. Big lead. I suspect he will get a very good night's sleep tonight. I expect to see him refreshed for tomorrow afternoon's session and to come out firing on all cylinders to put the game to bed.

Definately. Anyone else notice that Higgins really seems to want it, whereas Murphy looks alot more cool and relaxed, where he shouldn't really be considering how hes playing.
Higgins has that look on his face, like when Allen was closing in on him....hope he finishes it off comfortably tomorrow, he deserves it imo :)

Don't let Murphy's smug pout put you off. I'd wager he wants this more than anyone.

God I'd love one :P They only really showed a proper shot of the arena at the start, maybe people just weren't there yet?

this could potentially be the last session of this match. Can't remember a final never going to the final session before. Murphy seemed rattled after Higgins won that last frame.

Well Hendry murdered poor old Jimmy 18-5 one year. The dark years of being a Whirlwind fan.

Higgins is such a professional why did I bet against him? Beacause of the way Murphy put Fu away, its determination that wins tourneys but it will take a n awful lot of that from here.

Probably people gone out to the toilet at the end of the last frame, you have to be mighty quick to get back in time when the close the doors again.

Steve Davis's 18-3 drubbing of John Parrot also springs to mind.

Hurrah for John!! 18-9 it finishes.

I'm made up for him. His 2nd round match vs Cope & the quarter final vs Selby were snooker of the highest quality (from both players in both matches). He's shown buckets of bottle throughout the whole tournament.

    Well deserved win! :)

Well done John Higgins. A third world title is a tremendous accomplishment!

Who's to say he can't win another one or two!?

Congratulations to Higgins on what was without doubt a sublime display of snooker. With the greatest of respect to Murphy, Higgins was by far the more focused of the two and held his nerve better.

I have no doubt however that Murphy will reach several more World finals before his career is over.
