Is it just me or does something about this sound kind of insidious? I was going to put this on the Christian Forum but I asked around some of my more Christian friends and even they were rubbed the wrong way by this.

 I don't see the problem.

Is it any worse then those competitions where kids have to complete the slogan?

    Mainly these two paragraphs:

"Your essay can have any title, so you can be as inventive as you wish, but you will need to show to the best of your ability how marriage and the family, based on the union of one man and one woman for life, were the plan of God from the beginning of time and backed up by Jesus Christ Himself."

"All around us, Christianity and its virtues, which made Britain great, are under threat. Alternative lifestyles are being promoted and society is breaking down. Can you express ageless truth in a fresh and dynamic way, support marriage and family as God's own design for all mankind for ever and challenge the prevailing wind?"

And this competition is aimed at kids as young as 12? Kids that young shouldn't have to worry about any of this "Culture War" stuff, how in the hell does the Civil Union or Gay Marriage legislation affect them? Something just smells cynical about it...

Forgive my confusion but what exactly do you mean by "my more Christian friends"? Surely they're either Christian or they're not?

Sorry, my friends who are Christians of the practicing variety.

Nah, didn't mean to start a religious debate. I'd be saying the same thing if an Atheist group was advertising a competition for 12 year old's on the importance of secular humanism in Government - they're just kids, let them be kids

So write a good argument in favour of gay marragie and see if that holds water...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

'Better' is not the word I'd use tbh.
    article wrote:
There is no suggestion on the Kent Police website that the young children they are asking to enter should seek their parents' approval. It is all being done behind the parents' backs. And as a large number will be under the age of consent, some as young as 12, it is a monstrous exercise in nothing less than child sexual abuse.
'If a choir master or scout leader or any other adult in a position of trust managed to persuade a child to write an essay praising positive attitudes to homosexuality, he would be accused of grooming that child for sex. So why are the police involved in it, and why are they subverting family life in such a way? There is only one word to describe them, and that is "evil".

    Fcuking hell!
If I was God, I would, like, sooo be unleashing plagues on this guy's house right now. A pox on him, I say. A POX!

Your essay can have any title, so you can be as inventive as you wish

Once upon a time a long lomg time ago there was a girl called Mary, who got pregnant eventhough she was a virgin....

...then he was crucified and 3 days later he came back to life...

    Next week on Lost...

All around us, Christianity and its virtues, which made Britain great, are under threat. Alternative lifestyles are being promoted and society is breaking down.

So any other alternative life styles is bad according to their attitude
Isn't that one sided view just called a form of bigotry as well?

Stuff them. Let them write their one sided essays.
It will make up a whole composition of scribbling sad folk who can't see more than what they are brain-washed into ONLY seeing and then writing about it.

    Sad, just sad...

Put it this way, if this was a group of Scientology nutters asking their kids to write about how life beyond their Org' is bad - we'd still call them out for possessing one sided twisted, horse blinkered views. Irrespective of what money grabbing Org/religion/belief, any one group that advocates only a strict adherence to a limited lifestyle for the rest, is limiting the scope and distance of which individual humans can achieve.
And all humans can do much, much better when the ropes are untied and the mind and body can see more, experience more and see beyond the borders of the close-sighted.
    ...don't mind me, I waffle...

Anyway, its just sad that thats only as far as they can see.
I feel sorry for the kids thats all. To be closeted and only show one way of doing things at such a young age... is just sad.

Has anybody noticed that zealouts of any persuesion defeat their own purpose?

generally they bring contempt or laughter to their chosen ONE truth, not increase the followers of what they believe, usually scare people away by appearing to be nutcases.

They never seem to notice they have TWO ears but only ONE mouth(as nature intended)
