I'm new to LCD TV; Why the hell does the image pixelate so much?!

I recently got my first flat screen TV, a Philips 42 PFL7603D/10 . I'm watching Match Of The Day and when a player is moving the green of the grass around them pixelates and a shot of flags being waved looked very pixelated too. It's a little bit like a low res movie clip on youtube.

Is this just something that comes from digital TV (I just got digital from chorus/NTL)? Or do I need to tweak settings (pixel plus/HD natural motion/noise reduction/mpeg artefact reduction. Or is this the limitation of LCDs against CRT's?

I'd say you're just noticing the poor quality feed more on the bigger screen. What you're describing sounds like what I notice from SD sky feed. Chorus is much worse, can even notice it on a 21" TV! :)
You could try turning off some of the items like pixel plus etc, they may be trying to over-compensate a little on the image.
The way to test if it's the TV or the signal though would be to give your TV a HD feed of a match to see if you can still notice it. Even maybe an SD feed from a DVD.

Somebody suggested that a high quality scart lead would be a help as this is where the signal is carried by analogue. Might this do anything?

I had the same when I moved to an LCD from a CRT recently, turning down the image sharpness and using a decent scart lead helped a little.

Phillips would not be renowned for quality LCD's. The cheaper ones are pants.

Also I always found plasma to be superior but that is just my opinion.

You could also ask Ash from The Philips Shop over in the RicherSounds Commerical forum for any thought's ?
