Dell Laptop Trouble

    Hey Everyone,need opinions/advice!

I have a Dell inspiron laptop which I accidently let fall, the laptop still works fine but it wouldn't charge anymore so I opened it up and discovered that the board that the DC jack is soldered to has broken in two! I rang Dell but they still haven't gotten back to me and I was waiting ages the last time I rang!

So anyway I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem, I just want to know if its gonna be really expensive to have the board replaced ( dumbass me never got the insurance when I bought it!) I was thinking i could get an external charger to charge the battery but I'd prefer to get the thing fixed!

So anyway, let me know what you think or know or whatever
    Thanks!

ouch, must of been some fall. Your looking at a new motherboard unfortunetly. If youve got it open the best bet for you would be to find a replacement board on Ebay.

    What ther model number?

    Hey Kikel

Thanks for the reply. It's a 1525 model.I was able to open it up but I think it would be hard enough to get the board out, suppose I could get someone else to do it!

Maybe you should just replace DC socket? It cost around €60-70.
If you want replace matherboard it will be cost arount €250.

I can do both things for you.

OP says the board itself is broke so replacing the DC socket is out.

check out this motherboard on ebay.

If your got it open already removing the motherboard shouldn't be to difficult. If your never done it before just make a detailed list of where parts and screws go and you should be grand.

    Hey guys

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking about buying a motherboard online and having it replaced but I'm a bit worried about getting the wrong one, I mean I know what the model is but there seems to be these extra tags/numbers in the descriptions of the motherboards that are on ebay,do you know what I mean?!

Open up the removal covers on the back of the laptop. Under one of them (near RAM, i think) ya should find a sticker with the model number of motherboard.

    Should start with
    SKU: **.*****.**
