Being very nice to Fern Britton. I thought what she did was disingenuous, i.e. promoting weight loss products, while secretly having a gastric band inserted (which led to her weight loss). But the crowd seem to like her a lot.

True, but I do like her. No Anthea Turner she (at least not as bad anyway).

Thought she came across a bit... well... unhinged really. Was a very ''me against the world'' interview

From the ridiculous to the sublime...Stephen Fry!

i was just having a chat with somebody about the Late Late and the fact that they should can it; back in the day you'd have the likes of Billy Connolly, Peter Ustinov etc appearing, just 'for the craic'. No book to sell, no agenda - they were just doing what they did best. They entertained.

Fry was close to that tonight. He was, I suppose, in a sense 'selling' his America show, but they didn't mention it being on sale, or that he was going to be signing copies of it. However, he was just 'interesting'. Amusing anecdotes, decent impersonations, intelligent use of language, self deprecation, a bit about his mental illness difficulties.

How long did he get? I reckon 13 minutes.

Am I the only person who thinks, that without trying to sound like i want the man canonised or something, that if a show like this gets a guest like Fry, that he should get decent time. Good guests are hard enough come by, but when they're of that capability, a bit more time on set would be nice. FFS the man probably spent more time in make up.

Could literally listen to Stephen Fry for hours... he never ceases to be both incredibly down to earth and fascinating.

I was soooo impressed with Stephen Fry, but the interview was so short. So was the interview with the two 'funny' fellas. Is he trying to pack in too many guests? I could have listened to Fry talk for way longer.

A complete arse is Tubridy, as others have said they should have had Fry on for much longer and ditched the Crapzone shít.
    What a waste.

PS Fry's audioboos and tweets from Dublin have been good

no you're taking me up wrong; what i was getting at is that most people who are on the show are plugging something and the host will tend to say 'and you're signing copies of your book/album/dvd in waterstones/easons/hmv tomorrow, aren't you...'

In this case there was NO such plug; there was a brief mention and a clip from the 'across america' show, but NO reference to it being available on Dvd. I'm not even sure if it is.

The point i was making was that Fry seemed to be appearing on the show for no other reason than he wanted to, and that he was good because of it. The interview went everywhere, and wasn't bolted down by the demands of his PR agent.

I dont find The Panel funny at all, but that was good banter. If anyone has a copy of it, could they stick it on youtube?
