    Hi guys,

    My main PC is gone and i'm looking for a laptop to replace it. I would mainly be used for video playback, office, internet and email. The video playback might include some HD vids. Id also be connecting it to a Samsung monitor via HDMI.

    I was looking on dabs.ie at the Samsung R710. I don't need bluray as i have a ps3. I mainly need this laptop to be my video player for shows that i get from newsgroups through my monitor.

    Is this a decent laptop for the price and are Samsung a good brand for a main pc? I use a NC10 atm and find its a nice piece of kit.

    I have the samsung q310 and can highly recommend it. i got it off dabs.ie too. i get about 4-5 hours out of the battery and it had full linux support should u go down that route. cant say much about the r710 but maybe look for one with 4gb's ram just so you have it

    while there is nothing wrong with this laptop and it should mre than meet your needs i reckon you could get more for your money with looking around a bit. That laptop was about 670 i paid 700 for mine recently and it had 4gb of ram 32o hard drive and a 2.4ghz Core 2 duo processor.

    I just ordered a Samsung R610 from dabs.ie.

    Now to play the waiting game...
