Graduate Medicine after Civil Eng - fee requirements

    Hi,

I am currently finished 3rd year Civil Eng in NUIG but I'm thinking of doing Medicine.
I'm unsure of whether to do Medicine as Graduate or Undergrad.
What would the fee requirements be for both these options?

From what I can see, for Graduate programmes, fees are approx €13,000 a year (total 26,000 but 13,000 paid by HEA)...... is this correct? If Government bring back in fees, would this affect the amount paid for this? (i.e. HEA contribution would be gone!)

If I was to go back doing the Undergrad route after I finish my civil eng degree, would I be entitled to "Free Fees" for any of the 5/6 years of the course?

    Thanks in advance,

    Regards

HEA and government free fees are two separate schemes. If government bring back fees, it may not (and hopefully will not) affect the HEA programs.

No, since you've already got your free fees for a level-8 course.

Have you a dislike for the engineering?
heard they pretty much cancelled the placement program this year..
there is alot to be said for having the degree but i suppose you can always go back and do that final year in the future if you wanted

Ya hardly anyone in our course got placement... i managed to get it myself... but its on-site.. and hav been pretty much labouring. Had done some work experience previously and didnt really like it either.
Eng is OK.. but cant exactly see myself doing it full-time.

So are you saying, i can drop-out of college and go back and do my final year some time in the future??

I think you have to complete Final Year exams within two (or maybe three years, not sure which!) of passing third year exams. Drop into the Secretary and ask - or send him/her an email.
