I have Dell inspiron laptop that does not have a HDMI connection. The only conneciton on the back is a DVI. I bought a DVI to HDMI cable but someone told me that will not work when connecting it up because i will have Analog to Digital signal.

If anyone here can advise or any advice would be great. I search the web but couldnt find anything.

i use, d a vga to hdmi cableon my samsung hdtv, works fine for me, read the manual, set refresh rate to 6omhz,on graphics card.use 720p res, or 1024x764,quailty 32 bit,
see www.svideo.com for info re tv pc to tv,settings.DOWNlOAD,INSTAll powerstrip program ,allows you to refine output to tv.
the manual will say, whats the recommended resoution, when using a pc on your tv.
I THINk, the max refresh rate on that tv is 75mhz, im not sure read the manual.use 60mhz refresh rate 4 the moment.
its, just hdmi to hdmi is way easier to,set up ,using vga/dvi to hdmi means theres ony 3 resolution that will give you a clear precise picture, with no flikkering.ANYWAY at 1024 RES ,you,ll get a great framerate and a perfect picture, rightclick destop, go to grahics adaptor, advanced settings, tv ,tab.THERE S lots of detaild info on svideo.com.
if you are not using upscaling prog, use 720p mode 4 watching sd,standard dvds.Google connect pc to hdtv settings.

Did you try it? A DVI to HDMI cable should work fine. It won't carry sound so you'll need to run another cable from the sound out on your laptop to sound in on your TV.

A cable like this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=108381 black end in your laptop and red and white to your TV
