Problem writing Ubuntu CD

I downloaded Ubuntu 8.10 to use as a live CD but when I try to write the CD I get the message "operation has failed unspecified error 80004005" and the CD won't open. I'm pretty sure this is a problem in Windows but MS are no help. Anybody come across this and how did you solve it?

Hi,

I've no idea what that is. What CD Burner are you using?

Perhaps try a different ISO burner like

or

http://download.cnet.com/Burn4Free-CD-and-DVD/3000-2646_4-10217894.html?tag=mncol

If you have a USB stick, you can always create a bootable ISO image on that (works much faster). You can use Unetbootin for this:

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

It's very easy to use.
