    Hi guys!

Ok, story is this: my mate pc is running on vista and he said it taken ages to start up and crashing at times when he is burning cd or converting wma files. He uses VIO, think its called, for converting. while i was overlooking what he was doing during task manager i notice few stuff running that didin't need to be runnng so i shut them down at the time in a bid to reduce processing. Then i ran config and turned off few start up programs, Nero,Msn and others along the line that don't need to be run on start up. then did a disk clean up.

A crash shortly followed. Blue screen, Couldn't read it fast enough. Something about hard drive space.

So i went into Boot order. it was 1 removeable 2 hard drive 3 cd-rom. i changed 1&2. OS is in hard drive. After this i ran windows in safe mode. Then other stuff was ran but i couldn't make out what it was. So it ended windows going back to system restore point. The boot drive has changed too 1&2 back the way it started.

Now windows comes on but can't get into anything, if i do it say's access denied.

Any help?? (sorry about the long post)

Has the PC actually got the right specs for Vista? It sounds like one of those cases where you get many disparate problems due to the computer struggling to run something (in this case: Windows Vista).

If this isn't the case, then boot from the CD-Drive first, format the disk, and reinstall Windows.

    this is from http://vistasupport.mvps.org/disable_automatic_restart_to_read_blue_screen_messages.htm

    i'm quoting directly.

    start in safe mode

    1/ Click Start button
2/ From Start menu Click Control panel
3/ In Control Panel Click the System icon
4/ In the System Window look on the Left hand side of the window and you will see a list of options. Click on the Advanced System Settings option
5/ Because Computer management requires administrative privileges you may find the the User Account Control will pop up. If it does then enter the required information (if you are not the administrator) or, if you are the administrator, click the Continue button
6/ In the Advanced Settings window look for the Startup and Recovery section and then Click the Settings button
7/ In the Startup and recovery window look for the section marked System failure and remove the 'tick' mark from the 'Automatically Restart' option. Now press OK button
8/ Finally click the OK button on the System properties Window and then close the system window.

do that and the next time you blue screen the messege will remian on screen until tyou power off. post the offending file name which shoultfd be situated somewhere near the bottom of the screen. eg something.dll or something.
