How do these two laptops match up?

    or recommend me a machine,essentially i'm looking for something that's small,light and durable and will let me run windows xp,firefox,word programs along with few website design programs without any hassle. The first option is the laptop im using now which is perfect for my needs just falling apart and too big to carry around.

    1.

    Processor - Intel Core Duo T2050 (1.60GHz)
    Memory - 1GB ddr ram

    2.

    Processor - Intel Atom Z520 1.33GHz, 533MHz, 512KB
    Memory - 1GB DDR 2 ram

    They don't compare, there's more to a laptop than RAM and Processors. From the above i can only assume 2 is a netbook. Tell us what netbook you're looking at and we can probably help. You're old machine will certainly be "faster" than the netbook though.
