OK, it's Friday afternoon of a bank holiday weekend and the mind tends to wander. So I'm reading Leo Hickman's blog on the Guardian website about Mike Judge's new satirical animated series 'The Goode Family' and I notice that one of the animated characters looks erm...well...kinda familiar.

Make up your own mind (and maybe just ignore the shopping bag). Maybe it's just me.

Nah, that actually makes it. You can just imagine him in full road gear with a bag of groceries.

yeah, didn't he crash getting milk recently? If that pic had some road-rash, then we'd really be talking.

No sandals. But he did say he was getting a pair of proper Look style pedals.

It even has that classic face he has in EVERY photo.

    You might be right.
it was either milk for his cornflakes or cornflakes for his milk, can't remember

Phew! So it's not just me then.

Sandals would have really sealed the deal though.

I haven't watched the clip yet, but I gather the series is taking the pi55. If it catches on then this character might be a subject of ridicule...in which case my apologies.

Well, as someone on this site is wont to say: "at least he is cycling a bike".

I don't think Judd has ever tried cycling a bike with a bag of groceries on the bars; where he has it the bag will fall into the wheel. You need to hook the bag handles sort of over the top of the brake lever in such a way that the drop braces the bag and keeps it out of the wheel. This is easier on a modern bike where the brake cable goes back under the bar tape, it is a bit tricky with traditional brake levers where the cables go up like that... Er I think I read this on the internet somewhere.

With those pedals it had better be singlespeed, or else the curly-haired ones advisories about fixie foot retention have been a big lie.
