I have a PS3 with guitar hero. Can I buy rock band 2 and use the guitar from guitar hero with it?

    Yes.

I have the full band set from Guitar Hero: World Tour and have Rock Band 2 as well. The guitar works fine but the touch strip doesn't. You don't need to use it anyway.

As for a Guitar Hero 3 controller, that also works.

touch strip? Whats that for? My guitar definately doesn't have one of those.

touch strip is the slide bar on the guitar hero world tour guitar.

but otherwise, everything works. Rock Band 2 is also miles better tracklist wise, and has loads of great downloadable tunes, "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey is a fine example

That I don't know. But the GH:WT kit is better anyway so stick with that.

so if I hear you right, its better to get the guitar hero world tour band kit and the rockband 2 game?

Looking at the instrument compatability matrix on joystiq, it says the GH3 Les Paul guitar and GH:WT work correctly in both Rock Band games.

I would purchase RB2 and then borrow or rent RB1 and use the export feature to copy all songs from the disc into RB2.
Makes for a fantastic setlist of songs.

It all depends how much money you are willing to spend IMO. It went the whole hog and imported the RB2 instruments from USA as the drum kit is really really good, far better than RB1 set & WT drums.

I would start with just your guitar and if you really get into it, then get the instrument set.

Yes, no cross game compatability issues going forward.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Konami supposed to be bringing out a music game? I have RB1+RB2 and GH:WT and might as well complete the set of music games (if its at all decent), cos they are a lot of fun, especially after a few rounds of drink :D

Don't touch them with a ten-foot barge pole tbh!

I got guitar hero world tour band set. Pretty well built. happy out. Just wondering if its possible to get specific songs for it... for example "the final countdown"... my friend reallys wants this... I'd buy it, but it isn't on the list...

surely there is some way to get the songs on it? Can I not import my tunes into it?

Nope, no importing of your own music. You can download a load of songs for Guitar Hero (and a **** ton for Rock Band), but thats it.

the final countdown is coming to rock band before the end of the year with lego rock band.
