I know its early yet, but me and a mate are planning to go to Turnberry for the open. Probably heading early on the friday, getting the ferry from belfast to troon. We're taking a campervan over but not used to that kind of travel, haven't a clue were we'll park up at night, but probably just find somewhere remote and break out the drinks.:D

Hopefully get a round of golf in at some course close by(any, hopefully cheap) on the friday and monday, anyone any recommendations?

    Any tips or advice?

Not be there on the Thursday just in case someone turns up so you can take their slot ;)

Say it would be great cheering on Padraig for 3 in a row

I would love to go but over in China

I travelled last year and camped from Monday to Saturday. Would recommend getting a couple of practice days in if you could. We really enjoyed the practice days on Monday and Tuesday and were quite content at home on saturday and sunday in front of telly.
The only things that I am doing different this year is booking the car park. (more security, less delays and hassle, park and ride is a pain!)
We're also travelling earlier and tahking in 2 days at Loch Lomond for the scottish open.

When i went to the Open in St.Andrews and Carnoustie we played girvan golf course.
I has 8 links holes. No real clubhouse. But theres something special bout the place. We went at about 6 or 7 so just played the 8 holes for free.:pac:

It wouldnt be hilly like your typical links but the view out to ailsa rock is v.nice844264

I'd love to go for the full week but funds just wont extend that far and seen its a one off for us, we'd like to get the weekends play.
