Soda Stream (bleuuuuuggghhh!!!!)

We had one, my cousins had the fancy 101 version. I nearly lost my arm in the loading mechanism a few times. Every single flavour tasted gik. I remember putting slabs of HB vanilla ice cream into a tall glass and pouring some Soda Stream in there, what was I thinking. Well I was about 9 years old I suppose. All I can recall is that taste, like extra fizzy tonic water.

I went through a phase of tippling at the flavouring 'neat', from the bottle, passing by the troublesome *using the Sodastream* part..

I think it was the Cream Soda flavour that had me hooked. That and six packs of Skips were probably intentional pre-pubescent 'highs'.

Never tried that. I would imagine it would have tasted like that 'Stardust' stuff you could buy. Do you remember that? It 'cackled' in your mouth, was a kind of yellow powder came in a navy and yellow sachet I think (old skool!!).

I used to drink the pre-carbonated syrup too,it was gorgeous!! Expensive piece of equipment for what it done,great novelty value to begin with but ours disappeared pretty quickly into the abyss that was the garage and has never been seen since.

I'd love to taste some of these drinks now - I'd say to my adult palette they'd taste shocking! We never had a Soda Stream chez Firetrap but a couple of relatives did. I think the novelty of having a fizzy drink made up in this machine and handed out in special bottles over-rode our taste buds. The only flavour I remember distinctly is grapefruit - it tasted freakin' awful.

ROFL I thought I was the only one.

I remember the flavouring bottle cap had a mark for measuring out the amount. Took many a sly "nip" using the cap like a shot glass.
The cream soda flavour neat was heavenly...:D

yep used to drink the flavouring stuff too - can't really remember now but liked a cola and the orange flavour - can still taste the cola one when i think about it but then I remember the headaches. also got hooked on drinking undiluted ribena -hm tooth rot (years ago with the tooth unfriendly stuff

Bought one almost 10 years ago for nostalgic reasons, think it got chucked no idea where it is if it wasn't. But the problem I had was where to get the gas refilled..still have no idea.

Where do you get the gas refilled or new bottles?

Remember a blue syrup it tasted pants but it was blue which was more unusual so just had to have it. Favourite was the cola. I'm sure there are ways of making it taste better nowadays perhaps just adding a splash of orange juice instead and a cheeky splash of vodka..mind you that tastes pants too.
