    Hello all.
I'm going to do a mini-service on my 02 megane saloon. Basically oil/oil filter/air filter change, as its due in for NCT soon and needs it. Can anyone advise how much oil she'll take so I can have it ready? Plus, if anyone has done this and is aware of any pitfalls, please feel free to share:pac:

    Rgds,
    Jim

It'll take a little under 5 litres so buy a 5 litre can. Any 10w40 semi synthetic is suitable for the petrol engines, not sure what is needed for the diesels. You'll need an 8 mm square tool for the sump plug.

Sorry, its petrol. Thanks for the replies guys. The sump plug, is the 8mm square recessed, or would you get it with a spanner?

I'd imagine a socket set would be best.

I'll have a look. Might have an 8mm knuckle that would fit.
    Thanks again.

The sump plug has an 8 mm square hole, so yeah it is recessed and needs a square "plug" rather than a hex "socket" etc. You can get an 8 mm plug that attaches to a 3/8 inch square drive handle, IIRC I got mine in Halfords

That's a pain in the neck... is it just me or are newer cars becoming increasingly difficult to service them yourself...do they want you to bring it back to the dealer or what?

It's a fairly standard fit tbh. I've had 2 97 Peugeot vans that have used them or variations of same.

Also have megane-the coupe.Just had to get the tdc sensor replaced yesterday. Had the mechanic have a quick look over the car. Have to get new indicator bulbs as the orange paint is peeling. He checked the tyre walls especially the front 'kerb' tyre, the wipers, the fuel cap seal, the lights, the number plate lettering. Will get oil and filter change done too before the test. A friend also told me to put an additive ib the petrol to reduce emmissions. Good luck with your test op!
