Acer Aspire 5920G - CD/DVD drive problem

Hi All,

I bought an Acer Aspire 5920G two weeks ago and when I tried to download MSOffice 2003 onto the laptop via a CD nothing happened. Then, I tried to play the complementary Blu-ray DVD that came with the laptop again nothing happened. The drive whirs for a couple of seconds then it is dead. I would really appreciate any advice. Sound Store suggest that they wipe everything and start from scratch again.

the laptop might have dropped the cd/dvd drivers, before you give it back to soundstore to fix (which might be a bad idea) i would suggest going onto acer's web site and try downloading the drivers for the cd/dvd rom, they should have the drivers for that laptop. if der is still no joy, its most likely a manufacturers fault, and will have 2 go back to acer! soundstore will only restore the c drive and hope for the best. ive seen this before, i bet it will paly cd's but not dvd's or any software? good news is your covered. so if all fails just get soundstore 2 send if back 2 acer.

i've found acer to be brilliant with returns and repairs too,very quick also
