    Hi all
Have been lurking on this forum for a long time, posting occasionally and reading frequently.

At long last, after 15 months of work, my self and my partners website has gone live. We would love for you to take a quick look, and respond with comments, observations, positives, negatives etc.

    www.domeafavour.ie

Naturally, don't all rush to place orders at once in case you crash the server :D
    Thanks

If you could have a step by step process i.e. 1) Purchase a box, 2) fill it up etc etc

Just a thought, I'm not your target market at all so I can't comment on the rest.

I really like it, looks great, maybe the text is a bit "dead" on the first page, my eyes tended to pass over it and not read it.

On the niggly side you have a spelling mistake....

"PayPal handle all payment transactions and your card details are not stored on our server for added secuirity and peace of mind."

looks really well, I hope it goes great for you. Well done.

    :)

    Hey,
Not sure if you want comments on the website or on the business, but here's my 2p worth...

Website looks ok, if a bit purple/pink 'ish' for my taste, but maybe that suits the subject matter/target market.

Layout seems ok, drop down menus are fairly extensive.

You seem to have done a lot of work on naming the different products etc which probably adds to the overall authenticity.

Personally, i really like the giving of a landline (071) number with an internet only business, reduces any concerns i have about a site i'm not fully familiar with by a significant percentage.

Also, your photos are clear and upload easily. One thing you might consider adding is box size dimensions as its hard to get an idea of what they would look like 'in the flesh' so to speak.

So all good.... But... is the wedding market not a bit crowded, and if so how do you compare cost wise with your competitors?

Second, and i only thought about it while flicking through your site - but, do you think that wedding favours in general are a bit boring, and could you offer something (in addition to your standard offering), that might be unusual/different/novel etc - not sure what - maybe minature bottle of whiskey/vodka, some sort of carving/craft product etc...

Also, given the number of irish people that get married abroad (and take a good load of guests with them), would you add a product/products that might be suitable for that market - i.e. not chocolate - again not sure what, but something that be appreciated by people sitting down to a meal in spain or wherever.

Also, there is a 'luxury' end of the market that you might consider, apparently still in existence despite the fact that the father of the brides loans are about to be taken over by NAMA, so you might look at adding 'expensive' things like fancy pens or such like.

Anyway, best of luck with it all - when you get your product offering right, i would think your next challenge is going to be marketing yourself and distinguishing yourself from the many others who already have an 'in'.

very good... it might be an idea to state you can order one to sample. That then becomes a free sample when customers makes a large order

    ie QTY 1 = 3.50
    then QTY 100 = 99 * 3.50

this way free samples wont cost you until you get an order, and the customer is re-assured. Its not very easy to get a feel for once of items looking on the web, people may be more inclined if they could sample first.
If you can order 1 item as is, people may not think to do so unless its stated.

Overall very nice and well executed.

    A few points...

Put in a postal address on your contact details. No postal address is a sign of a scam site and also it helps for any returns.

Special Offers - visitors like special offers and free stuff. You don't have any at the moment, so either don't display it as it will just disappoint or much better put some sort sp offer(s) together.

Spellcheck, proofread again and keep it consistent - it's either favor or favour both looks sloppy. Favour around these parts obviously, but if your market is quite international you've a awkward decision.

Sort out your sitemap and look up how to submit it to Google.

Sort out your title, meta description and meta keywords tags - they're all the same.

Why is your blog on the WordPress site? While not a biggy, your host Blacknight has the same functionality for WP blogs. Also the blog look is inconsistent with your branding colours.

If you have previous newsletters put them in an archive as web pages.

Dump the CSS and HTML in the footer, only us web developers care about that, your visitors won't.

Just a small note on the homepage: perhaps resize the paypal icon so that the paypal, Visa and Mastercard icons are all the same size. It seems a little jarring that one is much bigger than the others.

Otherwises it looks very well. Good luck and congrats.

Nice website, well put together and constructed, good to have the keywords in plain english in the text...no time to go through it properly but you've chosen a good crowd to do this (no affiliation!)

Hi I liked your site, good selection. But I think a black and white surrounding would be more elegant.

The very best of Luck with it.

Yeah actually, even though I'm not your target audience at all, I still didn't have a clue what wedding favours are or were and I still don't!

Maybe you should explain it really clear and simple exactly what it is that you do so people like me (who might want to buy a wedding present for someone but knows nothing about it) can figure out what it is you do and why you do it and how a "wedding favour" adds value to a wedding in the sense of happiness? Just a thought.

    Agreed.

Did you use 'Mr.Site' to build your website?

I think anyone who has been married in the last eight years or who is currently planning a wedding coupled with about 90% of women over 16yrs old will know exactly what a wedding favour is.

I imagine women/engaged couples/wedding/planners/SNAG's are your target market but as you can tell from this forum your average single/not engaged/long time married male wont have a clue what your product is and it might be best not to exclude them.

I dont really like the text on the home page, I get the feeling you wrote it yourelf , its bland and doesn't really sell the product to me. If it was my site I'd be pushing "why you should buy" the product from the very first line. This is from your about us page: We understand that your wedding day is a once in a lifetime experience. Do me a Favour wishes to offer you and your guests a little detail that everyone will remember. Our handmade range of wedding favors are a result of Celtic romance and Greek tradition. I'd put something similar in the first paragraph.

As a whole I liked it the photo's are clear , it's easy to buy products and the drop downs are extensive.

I've just asked 5 girls I know who are fashion whores what a wedding favour is and they didn't know. Yes they could be braindead , but I think it's better to spell it out for everyone. For what it's worth, they were between 21 and 25.

So you spent they day chatting to young, braindead, fashion whores :D . Who said all research is boring.

But I'm inclined to agree that its dangerous to narrow your market.

On the front page change "Date of Marriage" to "Wedding Date".

I can just about remember my wedding, but the marriage ... :D

Seriously though. Change it. It's just wrong.
