Ok so im nearly finished college for the summer and the last of my grant is gone. THis means i need a job during the summer for money which is nearly impossible in this day and age. Is it possible for me claim the dole?

If you are done with your course - yes

If you are returning to college in the fall - no

With the utmost respect- suppose a student has legitimately quit one course....what then? I quit Science in the Summer of 1998 and found myself, at one weeks notice, repeating my Leaving Cert by September of that very year- despite having had no such an intention to so repeat my leaving at the time I quit college.

    That's a different situation, really.

I've got this predicament too, I'm finished one college but moving to another in september so technically for three months i'm not in college.... can I?

I'll be returning to college in the fall yea. Is it against the rules or something? Even claiming something small would be good enough for me.

I'm pretty sure since you are returning to college in the fall you're still not eligible. You should call into your local citizen's information office to make sure.

I'm finishing college in a month, hoping to do a masters in sept but won't know until the results come back.

Not much work available, can I sign on in June?

Nope, I'm afraid students in full time education cant sign on, even for summer holidays. Pain in the ass I know.

If you are finished college you need a letter from them stating that.

Even so, you need money to live. Community welfare officers have discretion to give payouts for emergencies but I don't know if this applies to students. If you need money you need money, might as well ask.

I'm finishing college in just over 2 weeks. As soon as I'm finished my final exam, can I get a letter from my uni saying I've fulfilled all the requirements for my course, and sign on straight away?
