So recently I have gone a little blonder than usual with highlights, but of course the roots are more obvious. And it is SO expensive to get them done, does anyone think I could get away with a home kit every second time?Or would this look awful?:o

I never trust home kits for blonde hair as iv seen them go wrong so many times and so badly! Id recommend the salon even tho the price is a pain!

Avoid home bleaching kits. I have a hairdresser that comes to my house as a nixer, it's a lot cheaper and she does a really good job. She uses all the professional products. Ask your friends and family cos most towns have a mobile hairdressers.

seriously, do NOT attempted to do your roots on your own unless you are a trained hairdresser.
like it will go all yellowy pissy colour at your roots and normal blonde where your professionally dyed hair is.
    i wouldn't risk it.

lol..well i have platinum blonde hair and i do it myself!

hairdressers just make you think you cant do it so they can make a ridiculous amount of money!

its fine to do it at home but you have to understand the stages of colouring blonde..it depends on your hair colour..if you have naturally dark hair and you want it blonde you should get a bleacher that will brighten it up to 7 shades...then put a toner in or another dye of the blonde shade you want..people with dark hair must have at least 2 dyes to bring up the blonde properly so it doesnt turn yellow or brassy..

oh nooooo!!!really dodgy!!my friend did it before and she has fairly light hair naturally and the roots turned out orange and the rest of ther hair was blonde!!it looked awful!!if you do use home kits its really hard to get the roots to blend with the rest of your hair!!!

I have been bleaching my hair on and off for years. I have naturally mousey blonde hair. The reason the hair goes that horrible yellow colour is because this is normal. The bleaching isnt the final stage. First you bleach the hair, best to do it late in the evening and put a good conditioner in. The next day use the toner. Its the toner that changes the colour to the nice blonde shade, not the bleach. You wont get the platinum colour with just the bleach. Its two stages.

Best to get a friend to help you out too though because it can be easy to miss a few bits at the back of your head.
Doing roots is a little bit trickier because you want to avoid getting the bleach all over your hair, this is what makes the hair badly damaged.
If you hair darker hair and you find that after 30-35 mins you still have a fairly dark yellow, still wash it out, its not gonna get any lighter. Dry your hair and bleach it again the next day to achieve a lighter shade. Then tone.

Its possible to do at home. Would recommend that leave in conditioner called Vitapointe, leave it in for a few hours. Smells like granny though lol.

I used to dye my hair constantly when I was younger, never had any trouble, I would definitely recommend it. I started going to the hairdressers at one point but only because I had so much hair that it took about 3 bottles to cover it so it wasn't much more expensive to go to the hair dressers. I still do my mum's hair and it always looks fine. Her friend in work liked it so much, I was made go to her house to do it for her daughter too

Really wouldn't risk that, wanna have perfectly dyed blonde hair with messed up roots?
Even though the price is ridiculous, you could find a cheaper salon or someone that will come to your house. You need a qualified professional to bleach if you want it done right.

PLEASE do not try at-home coloring kits if u have blonde hair, it will turn orange and u will end up paying for a color correction from yr salon plus u risk damaging yr hair. I used to be platinum blonde and had to get my color done every 4-5wks which broke the bank so i decided to gradually go a few shades darker (still blonde) and its the best desicion i ever made, my hair is in great condition and now i can go 3-4 months between salon visits saving me a fortune.
