Applying for Statutory redundancy and Social Welfare?

Some in my company have been on a 3 day week since last August. This week looks like it maybe reduced to 1 day a week. So they will only work 4 days a month.

If they decide to apply to the government for their statutory redundancy in 4 weeks time ( which I believe is the rules) what will be the implications for them claiming Job Benefit/Allowance?

I have read that if you apply for redundancy they may not pay you for 9 weeks unless it was a justified reason. Would being put onto a 1 day week be ''justified'' in applying for redundancy by Social Welfare?

It all depends on how much your redundancy is, I'm not too sure on the figures but I think if you get over 50,000 euro you cant claim for 9 weeks.

It could of been a higher sum then that though, someone else I'm sure knows more about it.

It would be under €40,000 . The thing not clear is that if you actually go to your employer and ask for the redundancy due to being put on a 1 day week then would Social Welfare deem that as ''justification'' for you applying for redundancy.
